I met Joe over a year ago when I first moved from Paris to New York City. Up until then, training wasn’t really a part of my life. Nothing could keep my attention for more than a few months. But when I got here and started working out with Joe 2-3 times a week everything changed. I became totally addicted to his style of practicing! I love that he addresses everything about you – from your physical health to your mental health. Also, the workouts are always new and challenging so I don’t get bored. You go from keeping balance while lifting weights to working upside down to kickboxing and more. The fact that he added a masseuse, acupuncturist and yoga instructor to the mix totally makes sense. I’ve learned not to take myself (body wise) so seriously, which is important because I tend to be totally compulsive. Now that I have this new outlook with dealing with myself I won’t let it go. I have been a member of Joe Trainer since October 2015. The first day I met with Joe, we evaluated my workout goals, needs and desires. After my initial evaluation, Joe introduced me to Nate, one of Joe’s personal trainers. The initial meeting, Nate took an overall assessment of my strengths, and took note of my weaknesses. We conducted a full range of tests, including weight, body fat, blood pressure among others. As I began my training regiment it took a few weeks to find my Rhythm. After about 10 sessions, I began to train regularly and found myself craving the next session. Nate is the consummate professional, having a firm grasp on the exercises and routines that I need and require to be effective. Each session is different , combining a mix of cardio, strength training and core exercises. Nate checks in with me daily, is very flexible with his schedule, and doesn’t let me down with the work out. It’s been nothing short of a great experience, and the other members are kind, courteous and very fun to work out around. The atmosphere is a fun one, everyone works out in a serious way and it is not rare to find yourself outside running, throwing a football or doing yoga exercises on the Hudson River. If you’re lucky, one will find themselves on a twenty to fifty Mike bike ride with Joe along the Hudson! A unique experience, and the family friendly atmosphere keeps me coming back week after week.

Joe Trainer saved my life. I know it sounds overstated, but after permanently damaging the weight bearing surface of my knee in ’91, I would go on to have 3 left knee surgeries and struggle to keep muscle definition in my left I would also struggle with conditioning and strength because my mobility was limited. I met Joe in 2004 and we started training in 2005. Knowing that I needed another knee surgery to replace the cartilage lost from my injury, we set out on a mission to improve my strength and conditioning, so recovery would be quick and I would be stronger after my next major surgery. We trained for 2-3 days a week for 5 years, only missing a handful of days over this period of time. I lost 4 inches off my waist and improved my natural strength by 50%. We would train together on Saturdays by cycling 25+ miles on  single speed road bikes, improving my conditioning and leg strength. The results are amazing. The focus and support from Joe is priceless.

In October 2002, I had the worn out the bone and cartilage in my left knee  and had to have it replaced with a cadaver, plus 8 screws and a titanium plate. Today I am still training, cycling, and running! For obvious reasons I do not run outside, but running sprints  on a treadmill feels great. My overall strength is official.

Joe is a very precise and meticulous sculptor and healer of the body.

I started seeing Joe after a friend advised me to give up the physical therapy that I had been having for my knees for five years, because they did not think it was helping me sufficiently. The work I did with him enabled me to make my paintings in a way that I had not done since having my knee surgery.
